Comprehensive Individualized Programs
At Raleigh Natural Wellness we focus on 6 pillars of Health – without the focus on all SIX pillars together – optimal health cannot be obtained.
What makes our programs so wildly successful is the mentoring that clients receive – to ensure you achieve your goals. This is our passion as a team and it is what makes us so incredibly different from other functional or conventional practices.
Nutrition & Detoxification
Food is Key! We personalize and tailor your diet based on YOUR specific needs and
health conditions. We constantly tailor your plan throughout your program so the end
result is a diet that is perfect for you!
leads to depression and anxiety, brain disorders, thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalance,
poor response to stress, immune/autoimmune disorders, fatigue, etc.
Hormones must be addressed in almost all! Hormone balance and gut health are so closely linked it is impossible to get great results without addressing both.
Stress Management / Mindset Training
We are all under stress but HOW we cope with that stress is crucial to understand. We run the right tests to better understand YOUR particular response to stress and address that from multiple levels – mindset, biochemical response and hormonal responses.
What is Thermography?
The human body has a very specific temperature pattern. Changes in this pattern, as a result of inflammation or disease, can be detected using thermal imaging. Thermography or Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) is a non-invasive screening tool that uses a specialized camera to measure extremely subtle temperature changes on the skin’s surface that correlate physiologically to underlying dysfunction or pathology.
While other screening tools, such as mammography, MRI and ultrasound are only able to identify structural abnormalities (such as a tumor at least pea-sized), DITI looks for FUNCTIONAL abnormalities (the process that occurs before a tumor grows). It is an adjunctive/supportive screening tool and is not a replacement for diagnostic tools but can provide crucial information on the origin of symptoms as well as identify pre-disease states resulting in early diagnosis. Research shows that thermal imaging can detect some cancers 8-10 years before they are visible on mammogram therefore allowing the golden opportunity for preventative treatments.
In addition, DITI can be significant in differentiating the origin of pain anywhere in the body whether neurologial, muscle, bone or cardiovascular providing more information for effective treatments.
There is no radiation, no skin contact and no discomfort. DITI is useful in ANY condition. There are no contraindications and can be safely performed on any one. For best results imaging should be repeated 3 months after the initial scan to establish an individual baseline then once per year thereafter.
DIsclaimer: Breast Thermal imaging is an adjunct (complement) test to other primary breast screening and diagnostic imaging studies such as Mammography, MRI, or Ultrasound. Patients should follow the recommendations of their primary healthcare provider for routine screening as well as for diagnostic imaging and/or additional work-up.
SIBO, Inflammation and Hormone Diagnostic Testing
WHAT IS SIBO?
SIBO (pronounced “see-bo”) is Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth – in essence, an overgrowth of “good” bacteria in the wrong place.
These bacteria should predominately reside in our large intestine/colon. SIBO is actually a motility disorder in which the good bacteria are able to migrate up from the large intestine into the small intestine or are not effectively moved down into the colon when taken in as a supplement or food. A process called the Migrating Motor Complex (MMC) is responsible for “street cleaning” the small intestine. Also called the “cleansing wave”, the MMC creates a current that washes debris down and keeps bacteria in the colon.
For multiple reasons (poor diet of refined/ processed food, medications, etc.) this process stops allowing debris to collect and bacteria to migrate to the small intestine. The small intestine is not equipped to handle a significant growth of these bacteria as in the large intestine. When they migrate to the small intestine they are closer to a food source (as it comes through the stomach). They consume “food” (in the form of sugars – glucose, lactose and fructose), multiply, release hydrogen and/or methane gas, as well as endotoxins. This leads to small intestine damage resulting in malabsorption, inflammation, leaky gut syndrome, digestive symptoms and likely systemic symptoms.
HOW IS SIBO TREATED?
SIBO is a fixable MOTILITY disorder. The three stages in SIBO treatment are:
- Eradicate the bacteria in the small intestine
- Repair the motility function/MMC
- Heal the gut through a specific diet and supportive nutrients
Dr. Kelley has treated SIBO for over 8 years and has developed very specific, effective protocols to treat the disorder directly as well as the resulting digestive and systemic symptoms. Herbal antimicrobials, motility repair as well as toxin-binding treatments are often utilized to aid elimination. The KEY to treating SIBO long-term is not only eradicating the bacteria in the small intestine but repairing the gut motility!
The third, most important (and often overlooked or under-treated) stage in SIBO treatment is to repair the damage to the gut lining. Specialized nutrients are used to aid in healing from the beginning of treatment. This stage is often where the true healing and improved food tolerance begins!
What are symptoms of SIBO?
- Gas and Bloating
- Abdominal Pain or Cramping
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome/IBS
- Multiple Food Intolerances or “Food Allergies”
- and MANY more
- Thyroid disorders
- Prostate disorders
- Autoimmune conditions
- Neurological conditions such as vertigo and seizures
- Poor immune functioning
- Joint Pain
- Chronic Anemia or Low Mineral Status
- and MANY more
If you think you might have SIBO the first step is to get tested! Seek treatment by a physician who truly understands SIBO and has a comprehensive treatment plan that includes protocol elements to improve motility as well as gut-healing, otherwise SIBO will return again and again.
